Clinically governed AI.
Labs AI reads health data, and that places a duty on us. This page sets out how it is governed, in plain English, so you can decide whether to trust it.

Privacy
Your health data is the most personal data you hold, and we treat it that way. It is held primarily in the United Kingdom, encrypted in transit and at rest, protected by access controls, and reachable only by the people who need it to deliver your service. We never sell identifiable personal data.
Ethical standards
Labs AI is built to inform you, not to alarm you and not to sell to you. Where the evidence is strong it says so. Where the evidence is thin, or disagrees with itself, it says that too. It does not manufacture certainty it does not have.
Safety
Insights pass through safety guardrails drawn from original doctoral research in health AI. Reference ranges are never applied across sexes, ages or units. Where something needs a clinician, Labs AI says so rather than filling the gap.
Research-based
The frameworks behind Labs AI come from published health psychology and from research approved to doctoral standard. Evidence is weighted by how well established it is, and where a claim rests on limited evidence we say so.
The boundary
An insight tool, not a diagnosis.
Labs AI helps you understand your results and what you might do about them. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment, and it is not a substitute for medical advice.
It does not replace your GP or your clinician. If something needs a doctor, please see one.
One person, many specialisms.
Designing a health plan that genuinely fits a person is usually a multidisciplinary job. Your bloods, your sleep, your training, your stress, your relationships, your work and the circumstances you live in all move each other, and every one of them has its own literature and its own specialists. Almost nobody ever gets a team that can hold all of it at once.
That is what we built Labs AI to do. Used properly, AI reads across more evidence than any one person can hold, and brings it back to your situation rather than to an average.
The research points two ways and we design for both. Directly, on what you feel day to day: stress, focus, energy. Indirectly, on what keeps working afterwards: motivation, resilience, and understanding your own health well enough to act on it.
We stay close to that research as it develops, and we say what it supports and what it does not.
Guided by our own research.
Our team has carried out new research into how generative AI can support health and wellbeing, screening over 2,200 records across the published literature. The safeguards it identified are the ones we build to.
- Transparent consent. You are told what your data is used for, that AI processes it, and what Labs AI can and cannot do.
- Experts in the build, not just the AI. The metrics, measures and insight logic were developed with qualified people, including a doctor of health psychology, and a clinician checks the testing before launch. AI does not decide what good practice looks like.
- Weight of evidence, not single studies. Insight is weighted by how well established the research is, and says where evidence is limited or contested. We expect to keep refining this.
- A person stays in the loop. Labs AI drafts insight. It does not act on your behalf, take decisions for you, or change your care. As AI systems become more autonomous, we keep that boundary rather than remove it.
- Grounded in established behavioural science. The frameworks behind an insight are published and peer-reviewed, not invented for the product.
All of it produces insight, not diagnosis. Our tools and resources are built to help you understand your health and act on it.
Reviewed, not set and forgotten.
- Markers are reviewed. Reference ranges and the evidence behind each marker sit on a review cycle rather than being fixed once.
- Changes are tested before release. When the model or the insight logic changes, we re-run a fixed set of test cases and compare the results before anything reaches a member.
- The evidence base is re-swept. We revisit the research behind the insight logic on a schedule and record what changed.
- This page carries a date. Last reviewed is shown at the top, and updated whenever the page changes.
The questions people actually ask.
Where it is held
Primarily in the United Kingdom. Some hosting may sit in London or Dublin. Where data moves to the European Economic Area we rely on the UK Government's adequacy regulations, and any transfer beyond that is made only under a safeguard recognised in UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
Ten years for health data and test results, and ten years from your last order for account and order data. Marketing contact details until you unsubscribe. Anonymised, aggregated data is no longer personal data and is kept indefinitely. UK GDPR sets no fixed period, so we document and justify ours.
Who can see it
Only the people who need it to deliver your service. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, protected by access controls, and subject to regular security reviews.
Who else processes it
Inuvi Diagnostics Limited carries out laboratory analysis as a UKAS accredited medical laboratory (No. 10641), and Inuvi Health Limited provides nurse-assisted sample collection. Both act as data processors under contract. Cloud hosting, database and payment providers support the service. Regulators and health authorities receive data only where the law requires it. We never sell identifiable personal data.
How AI providers are held
The AI providers behind Labs AI act as data processors under contract. They are contractually prevented from using your data to train their models, and your data is not retained by them beyond what is needed to return a result.
Our lawful basis
Explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) UK GDPR for laboratory testing and for AI interpretation of your results. Performance of a contract for your account and your order. Consent, which you can withdraw at any time, for marketing.
Your rights, and how to use them
You have the right to be informed, and rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within one month. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at any time.
Health Labs HQ Ltd, registered company number 14787527, is the data controller. This page is a plain-English summary. The full detail, including the complete retention table and the list of recipients, is in our Privacy Notice and our Terms and Conditions, which are the binding documents.
Human oversight
A clinician checks the work.
Labs AI is developed and reviewed by a doctor of health psychology alongside the Health Labs clinical team. A clinician has already checked metrics used in our existing tests, and a clinician will have checked the product before it goes live.
